Ty Lawson Traded to the Houston Rockets

During the 2015 NBA Draft the Nuggets selected Emmanuel Mudiay a 6'6 rookie point guard that played in China for a year. Most people including Ty Lawson knew his days playing in Denver was coming to an end. Especially considering Emmanuel couldn't shoot the ball too well so Mudiay wouldn't be able to start at shooting guard. Ty Lawson couldn't start at the shooting guard because he is too short. So it was a must that the Nuggets make a move to trade Ty Lawson away especially after Lawson getting his 2nd DUI and checking himself into a 30-day rehab program.

Last night Ty Lawson was traded to the Houston Rockets. The Houston Rockets traded their first round pick that is protected, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, and Nick Johnson. The Houston Rockets basically was able to get Ty Lawson without trading any of their key players away. This trade helped out both teams. This trade helped out the Houston Rockets because they have been desperately looking for a point guard that can score the ball. This was a good trade for the Denver Nuggets because they didn't want to keep players that didn't want to be there. Now that the Rockets have Ty Lawson as their point guard they're back in championship contention considering Ty Lawson stays out of trouble.

Day 1 of NBA Free Agency

The moment every championship contender and rebuilding team has been waiting for since the NBA playoffs was over is finally here! NBA free agency has finally started and NBA teams are allowed to contact and schedule meetings with unrestricted free agents & restricted free agents. An unrestricted free agent is a player that doesn't have to worry about his former team matching a contract offer made by another team. However the restricted free agents don't have that same luxury as unrestricted free agents. For restricted free agents even if they get offers from another team the player's former team has a chance to match their offer even if the player doesn't want to play for his former team. The players can't sign their new contracts until July 9th.

Some key names have already resigned back with the teams that they played with this season. Kevin Love has signed back with the Cleveland Cavaliers for 5 years the deal is worth 110 million dollars. Anthony Davis signed a contract extension with the  New Orleans Pelicans for 5 years the deal is worth 145 million dollars. Danny Green resigned back with the San Antonio Spurs for 4 years the deal is worth 45 million dollars. Kawhi Leonard resigned with the San Antonio Spurs for 5 years the  deal is worth 90 million dollars. Jimmy Butler resigned with the Chicago Bulls for 5 years the deal is worth 95 million dollars. Kris Middleton resigned with the Milwaukee Bucks for 5 years the deal is worth 70 million dollars.Mike Dunleavy resigned with the Chicago Bulls for 3 years the deal is worth 14.4 million dollars. Brandon Knight has resigned with the Phoenix Suns for 5 years the deal is worth 70 million dollars. Goran Dragic resigned with the Miami Heat to a 5 year deal that is worth 90 million dollars. Damion Lillard signed a contract extension with the Portland Trailblazers for 4 years the deal is worth 120 million dollars. Brook Lopez resigned with the Brooklyn Nets for 3 years the deal is worth 60 million dollars. Thaddeus Young resigned with the Nets for 4 years the deal is worth 50 million dollars.

Some surprising signings have happened also in Day 1 of NBA free agency as well. Tyson Chandler signed with the Phoenix Suns for 4 years the deal is worth 52 millions. There were rumors going around that if the Los Angeles Clippers lost DeAndre Jordan to free agency they were going to try and sign Tyson Chandler. Another surprising move was the Toronto Raptors signing him to a a 4 year deal that is worth 50 million dollars. The Boston Celtics signed big man Amir Johnson to a 2 year deal that is worth 24 million dollars. Their was even a trade in day 1 of NBA free agency that had Tiago Splitter get traded from the San Antonio Spurs to the Atlanta Hawks. The Spurs did this deal to free up cap space to sign star big man LaMarcus Aldridge. Al-Farouq Aminu signed a 4 year deal with the Portland Trailblazers that is worth 30 million dollars. Another surprising moment in the day 1 of NBA free agency is Draymond Green and Warriors personnel are not seeing eye to eye with contract negotiations. Draymond Green is now open to talking to other teams about contract he is a restricted free agent so the Warriors can march any offer another team gives him.
