New York Knicks Trade for Derrick Rose

Yesterday the Knicks made a big trade before the 2016 NBA Draft. With the New York Knicks not having any first round picks they were up a creek. The Knicks had a huge need for a  Point Guard considering they only averaged 7.6 points per game, which is the fewest in the NBA, from the starting Point Guard position. The New York Knicks handled their Point Guard issue by trading for Chicago Bulls former MVP Point Guard Derrick Rose, Justin Holiday, and the Bulls 2017 2nd round draft pick. The New York Knicks traded Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant, and Jose Calderon to the Chicago Bulls. This was a huge upgrade in the Point Guard for New York going from Jose Calderon to Derrick Rose.

Although this isn't the same explosive Derrick Rose before all the knee injuries, he's still a talented player. Derrick Rose averaged 16.4 points per game, 4.7 assists per game, and 3.4 rebounds per game. That will help run Jeff Hornacek's fast paced offense that he ran when he coached in Phoenix. After this move, the Knicks have 30 million in cap space to spend in free agency. If they could get another big name free agent the Knicks could go from bottom of the East to playoff contention. But, with Kristaps Porizingis, Carmelo Anthony , & Derrick Rose this could be the start of something special in New York.
