Five Targets the Dallas Cowboys Should Look at Before the Trade Deadline

With the trade deadline approaching today at 4 PM ET, the Dallas Cowboys have several weakness they need to fill if they're serious about a playoff push. The Dallas Cowboys are currently 4-3, which isn't bad but also isn't playoff worthy either. If it wasn't for the Cowboys defense blowing big leads against the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers they would be 6-1. So, you should already know what I'm going to say their first target should be any defensive player that can strengthen a weak defense.

Although DeMarcus Lawrence has been having a stellar season with 10.5 sacks. Also, after serving a four-game suspension, David Irving has come back with aggression recording five sacks.

The first target the Cowboys should look into is finding a runner stopper defensive tackle. The Dallas Cowboys really dropped the ball, letting Marcell Dareus getting traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marcell Dareus was a perfect player to fill the Dallas Cowboys run stopping woes, Dareus is a player that can take out one or two linemen by himself. However, since Dareus is already off the board, another player the Cowboys should look at is Ndamukong Suh. Suh is another offensive line nightmare, he causes havoc and not only stops the run but also gets pressure on the quarterback. I know Miami says, he isn't up for trade, but for the right offer, anyone is available. Dallas needs to at least test the waters with Miami to see what they want for Suh. Dallas run defense is ranked 14th in the league giving up 106 yards per game.

The next target the Cowboys should look into is a veteran shutdown corner. Dallas Cowboys pass defense is currently ranked 12th, which isn't bad. But, if they're serious about chasing a championship, they need to find a lockdown corner. The name they should be targeting is Vontae Davis who currently plays cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts. Vontae is a physical cornerback in his six-year career, he has 22 interceptions and 142 pass deflections. Although the Cowboys invested a large amount of their draft picks into defensive back in the 2017 draft they still need help.

The third target the Cowboys should look into is adding another linebacker with some substance. When Sean Lee is on the field, the defense looks in tune and perfect. But, when Sean Lee is injured the defense looks lost. Jaylon Smith has stepped up since his gruesome injury but is still on a pitch count. The Cowboys should target San Fransisco linebacker Aaron Lynch.just to add depth to their linebacker core.

The fourth target the Cowboys should look into is adding another deep threat for Dak Prescott. Everyone thought Terrance Williams, would be the other deep threat outside of Dez Bryant. Terrance Williams has been nothing but a bust, and shouldn't have been resigned. The name that should interest the Cowboys is Pittsburgh Steelers disgruntled wide receiver, Martavis Bryant. With Martavis being 6'4, and a deep threat he will help out the Dallas offense tremendously especially with Ezekiel Elliot starting his six-game suspension this week.

The fifth and final target, the Cowboys should look into is a running back. With Ezekiel Elliot being suspended for six games, there are rumors the Cowboys have contacted the Tennessee Titans, to see if they're willing to trade former Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray. This would be perfect considering he already knows the system, and if he can deal with the fact he will always be the number two running back and never number one back when Elliot returns this would be perfect.

Kyrie Finally Gets His Wish

After Kyrie Irving told management he wanted to be traded, they were hesitant at first. But, I guess they saw he was serious about leaving and didn't want to be there anymore. Kyrie wanted to be the number one guy and was tired of being in LeBron shadow, especially after hitting that dagger in game seven of the 2016 NBA Finals that won them the championship over the Golden State Warriors.

Kyrie Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics last night, in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets 2018 first round draft pick. The best part of the trade for the Cavaliers was getting the Nets 2018 draft pick.

The shocking part is the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kyrie Irving to their biggest threat in the Eastern Conference which was very surprising. The new addition of Kyrie to the Celtics makes them the favorite on paper to come out the East. With the tandem of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward that makes them a scary team. The Celtics may have lost IT, but they upgraded at the point guard position. Isaiah Thomas was a defensive liability because of his height; he also had hip problems. So the Kyrie trade was a slam dunk for the Celtics. The only part of this deal the Celtics lost in was giving up the 2018 Brooklyn Nets first round pick. The Celtics even got to keep young studs Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown which was very shocking.

If Colin Kaepernick was in the NBA would he be out of a job?

It's obnoxious that Colin Kaepernick still hasn't been at least invited to a team's training camp, let alone not be a starting quarterback for an NFL team. There are a few teams that desperately need a quarterback the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and the Denver Broncos.

Yesterday the Miami Dolphins signed Jay Cutler, to a one year $10 million dollar deal. This is very shocking since Jay Cutler is coming off shoulder surgery. Jay Cutler only threw for 1,059 passing yards, four touchdown passes, four interceptions, and five fumbles in his five games before a season ending shoulder injury. Not to mention, Jay Cutler quarterback rating was 27.9. Some NBA players averaged more points per game than Cutler's QBR. That is flat out horrible; it is no way a retired Quarterback should get picked over Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick isn't perfect, but he was able to throw for 2,241 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and only four interceptions in twelve games.

The Cleveland Browns desperately need a quarterback; Brock Osweiler is not the answer. He is more inconsistent than the stock market. Osweiler threw 16 interceptions and 15 touchdowns. DeShone Kizer still needs practice and to gain NFL experience before he becomes the starter. Kaepernick would have helped this team tremendously. Plus Hue Jackson loves mobile quarterbacks.

With Ryan Tannehill, having yet another knee injury, the Dolphins were desperate for a quarterback. We all know Jay Cutler wasn't the answer. Their excuse was that Jay Cutler knew the system. The real reason was they didn't want to deal with the  media attention from Kaepernick's social justice stand.

The NFL should be ashamed, that NFL players can hit women, steal merchandise, kill people, and get a fine and a suspension and will be back on the field like nothing happened. But, if a man stands up for something he believes in he gets chastised and blackballed. That says a lot about the NFL thinking; it shows the NFL is still afraid of change.

You the mean to tell the New York Jets didn't need Colin Kaepernick. They rather have Christian Hackenberg over Colin Kaepernick, that's absurd.

The Denver Broncos are a quarter back away from another Super Bowl run; now I'm not saying Kaepernick is a superstar quarterback. But, he would give the Denver Broncos a better shot at a championship run, then Trevor Siemian.

The NBA is light years ahead of the NFL, in regards to letting their players use freedom of speech. We have seen the NBA players wear I can't breathe shirts after Eric Garner lost his life to a police officer choking him. The NFL has yet to do that; the NBA commissioner praises NBA stars for using their platform to speak on something they believe in. The only thing you hear the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, talk about is who is fining and suspending.

But ask yourself with the talent Kaepernick has, would he be out of a job if he played in the NBA?

2017-18 NFL Season Kicks off Tonight

NFL Football is back! Tonight the NFL Hall of Fame Preseason game will take place. The two teams that will be playing are the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Arizona Cardinals.

Although it's just preseason, everyone has been waiting for football to come back on and we're not talking about soccer.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a phenomenal 13-3 record from last season. They look to build on that momentum tonight. We will only get to see the Cowboys prolific offense, of Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot, Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, and the brick wall offensive line for a series or two. But, that's all we need to see.

What most Cowboys fans and fans, in general, want to see is if Dallas young defense will sink or swim. Cowboys secondary was built through this year's draft, spending a bulk of their draft picks on safeties and corners. Also, we will see if Taco Charlton was the right for Dallas depleted defensive line.

Another young future star will get to see tonight for the Dallas Cowboys, is Ryan Switzer, a former North Carolina standout wide receiver and punt returner. During Switzer's four years at North Carolina, he returned seven punt returns for touchdowns. The Cowboys have starved for a punt returner for the longest. They didn't want to overwork Cole Beasley and Dez Bryant. In my eyes, Ryan Switzer was the steal of the draft.

On the Arizona Cardinals side, the Cardinals are coming off a disappointing season. Last season, the Cardinals finished 7-8-1. But, the only bright spot for the Cardinals, was the emergence of star running back David Johnson. He does it all! As Carson Palmer gets older, the younger quarterbacks will get to make their case on why they should be the next QB to lead the franchise.

Former Temple star, Haason Reddick should cause havoc for opposing teams quarterbacks alongside Chandler Jones.

Tonight's game will take place 8 PM EST on NBC & NFL Network.

Dysfunction in the Land

Rumors are going around that Kyrie Irving wants out of Cleveland and wants to get traded to a team where he's the only superstar. He is tired of being in LeBron James shadow.

Some might find it odd since the Cleveland Cavaliers have been to the finals three straight years. But, anyone that has some common sense knows sometimes you want your own shine and don't want to share it with anyone.

In all honesty, the only way the Cavaliers trade Kyrie is if they get a trade that blows their mind.

We will soon see if Kyrie gets his wish and the Cavs trade him.

For updated sports news follow my Twitter page @blogaccess1on1 and Instagram page @blogaccess1on1 .

Please do the Kyrie poll on my twitter page @blogaccess1on1 .

He already has one ring, he is arguably the best point guard in the league. We saw what Russell Westbrook did when he had his own team last year; we can only imagine what Kyrie would do if he got the chance.

Teams Bidding for Derrick Rose in NBA Free Agency

After leaving the New York Knicks for free agency, Derrick Rose is still looking for a new home for the upcoming 2018 season.

Once again, Derrick Rose was unable to finish a full season with another torn meniscus knee injury. Rose played 64 games for the Knicks during the 2016-17 season. Derrick Rose averaged 18.0 points per game, 4.4 assists per game, and 3.8 rebounds per game. With those kinds of stats, Rose would have been signed with an NBA team in free agency awhile ago, but due to those injuries teams are hesitant to take a risk on him.

The Milwaukee Bucks was one of the first teams to meet with Derrick Rose in free agency. The Bucks have a nice young core, and with Derrick Rose only being 28 he would fit nicely. Also, he would raise their stock to make a push in a weak Eastern Conference. Jason Kidd will mold Derrick Rose back to his old self before he got injured. They will get a huge upgrade at the point guard position, no disrespect to Malcolm Brogdon but he's still learning and growing. Rose has playoff experience and can share his knowledge with Bucks future superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The next team to go after him was the Cleveland Cavaliers. This might be the best fit for Rose if he is willing to play the shooting guard and share the back court with Kyrie Irving. But, this will only work if Rose is willing to drop his pride and not get mad when he doesn't have the ball as much since LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are both ball dominant players. If Derrick Rose isn't worried about taking a pay cut, he has an instant shot at making it to the NBA Finals and competing for a championship ring.

The last team to go after Derrick Rose in free agency was the Los Angeles Lakers. This is pretty strange since they just drafted Lonzo Ball and have Jordan Clarkson coming off the bench. But, you know the Lakers like to do anything that brings them attention. The only way Derrick Rose goes there is if they offer an immense contract.

We will soon see where Derrick Rose signs.

Monta Ellis Potential Landing Spots

Monta Ellis was released by the Indiana Pacers last week. Ellis played for the Pacers for the past two seasons. Through his two seasons with the Pacers, he averaged 11.1 points per game.

Monta Ellis is 31 years old; he still has a lot to offer to a playoff team.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of those teams who could use his abilities. Ellis could be the scorer off the bench the Cavaliers desperately need. Kyle Korver and Iman Shumpert were nonexistent in the NBA Finals.

Another playoff team who could benefit from his services is the San Antonio Spurs. Danny Green has been inconsistent this past season, Manu Ginobili is getting up their age. Monta Ellis signing to the San Antonio Spurs would improve their chances of beating the Golden State Warriors.

The Los Angeles Clippers would be another great landing spot for Monta Ellis. The Clippers need a good scorer/shooter on their roster for next season, after losing JJ Redick in free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder could be another great landing spot for Monta Ellis. They need a spark plug off the bench, and Monta Ellis is that guy. The Thunder need some scoring production when Russell Westbrook and Paul George go to the bench to get some rest.

The Toronto Raptors is another team that could use Monta Ellis services. The Raptors need guard bench production after the loss of Cory Joseph in free agency to the Indiana Pacers.

We will soon see what team Monta Ellis ends up on.

Fultz & Tatum Doesn't Disappoint In Utah Summer League Debut

Markelle Fultz and Jayson Tatum put on a show last night in the Utah summer league.

Fultz came out firing hitting his first two shots, while Jayson Tatum started off slow shooting one for three. Fultz looked very relaxed; he even showed he was locked in on defense where he made two blocks. His most exceptional block of the game was when he pinned Boston Guard Demetrius Jackson shot on the backboard.

At halftime, the score was tied 44-44. Although Fultz and Tatum were who the fans came to see, Jaylen Brown refused to be out shined. Jaylen Brown finished with 17 points and six rebounds at halftime. Jayson Tatum finished with nine points at halftime. Markelle Fultz finished with seven points at halftime.

At the start of the third quarter, the 76ers came out rolling, which lead to a 17-3 run. Most people would think this game was over. But, Jaylen Brown & Jayson Tatum refused to go down easily. At the end of the third quarter, the 76ers lead the Celtics 71-64.

In the fourth quarter, both teams kept trading baskets. Everyone knew it would
come down to who had the last shot. Jayson Tatum took a few dribbles and pulled up for a jumper and hit nothing but net to put the Boston Celtics up one point with 5.1 seconds left in the game. Now it was the other rookies turn to see if he could match what Tatum did. Fultz caught the ball and dribbled baseline, he tried a reverse layup for the win, but Jaylen Brown wasn't having it and made the game-saving block for the Celtics. The Celtics defeated the 76ers 89-88.

Jaylen Brown finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds. It was clear Jaylen Brown had been in the lab working on his game this summer. Brown hit three three-point shots last night, which was the weakest part of his game heading into the 2016 NBA draft. Jayson Tatum finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Abdel Nader finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Markelle Fultz finished with 17 points and three blocks. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Alex Polythress finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Larry Drew II finished with ten 10 points and five rebounds. Former Saint Joseph Hawks star Isaiah Miles finished with 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Jonah Bolden, who was the 76ers 2017 second round pick, finished with nine points, four rebounds, and four blocks. Aaron Harrison finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and four steals.

76ers will resume Utah Summer League play tomorrow night at 9 PM ET against the Utah Jazz.

76er's Rookie Robbed of Rookie of the Year Award Last Night

Dario Saric, a Croatian 2014 lottery draft pick, who came over to the 76ers this past season. Dario had a remarkable second half of the season. When Joel Embiid went down with another injury, everyone thought the 76ers would just lie down and quit for the rest of the season. But, Dario Saric showed he wasn't going to quit. After All-Star break, Dario Saric averaged 19.5 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, and 4.2 assists per game.

There is no way he shouldn't have won the Rookie of the Year award by a landslide.

For the 2016-17 season, Dario Saric averaged 12.8 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, and 2.2 assists a game in just 26.3 minutes a game.

Not to knock Malcolm Brogdon, but he only averaged 10.2 points per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 2.8 rebounds per game in 26.4 minutes per game.

Brogdon's numbers was only better than Dario's in the assists category. So, I'm kind of perplexed how he won Rookie of the Year award.

Cavaliers Force Game Five

Yesterday, the Cavaliers played with a desperation that they should have been playing like at the start of game one.

The Cavaliers jumped out to a 26-11 lead. Kevin Durant & the Warriors, however, cut into the lead to 31-25. But, Kyrie, LeBron, and Kevin Love refused to give up the lead. The Cavs ended the first quarter leading 49-33. The Cavs set an NBA Finals record for the most points in a quarter.

The second quarter wasn't any different; the Cavs continued to keep their foot on the gas. The Warriors had no answers for them. At the end of half the Cavs lead 86-68.

In the third quarter, the Cavs continued to cruise through the game. Everything was clicking for the Cavaliers; even Deron Williams was making shots. At the end of the third quarter, the Cavs lead 115-96.

In the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers and the Warriors emptied their benches. The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors 137-116 and forced a game five on Monday, at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Ca.

LeBron James finished with 31 points, 11 assists, and ten rebounds. Kyrie Irving finished with 40 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Kevin Love finished with 23 points and five rebounds. JR finished with 15 points. Tristan Thompson was back to his old self finishing with ten rebounds.

Kevin Durant finished with 35 points and four assists. Draymond Green finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Klay Thompson finished with 13 points, even with his shooting struggles last night.

Will see if the Cavs come out playing with that fire in game five, or if they used all their energy in game four.

The Golden State Warriors Rout the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game One

Last night game one of the NBA Finals was everything we expected and then some.

The first quarter was a dunk fest. One of the most impressive dunks of the game, was when LeBron James dunked on JaVale McGee. At the end of the first quarter, the Golden State Warriors led 35-30. You would think it was going to be a close game.

In the second quarter, the Warriors slowly started to pull away. The tandem of Steph Curry & Kevin Durant continued to torment the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, & Kevin Love did all they could to counter the Warriors dominance.

In the third quarter, the Warriors stopped throwing jabs to the Cavs. The Warriors started throwing haymakers that were connecting. Steph Curry & Kevin Durant made three-point shot after three-point shot. Even Draymond Green chimed in with a three-point shot of his own. At the end of third quarter, the Warriors lead the Cavaliers 93-72.

In the fourth quarter, both teams knew this game was over and had their bench players in the game. The Warriors went on to win game one of the NBA Finals 113-91.

The Golden Warriors had a lot of positive spots in game one. Kevin Durant finished with 38 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Steph Curry finished with 28 points, ten assists, six rebounds, and three steals. Even through foul trouble, Draymond Green finished with nine points and 11 rebounds. Even Zaza Pachulia finished with eight points and six rebounds. Anytime Klay Thompson struggles shooting the ball and only finishes with six points and the Warriors still win by 22. The Cavaliers are in deep trouble.

Although the Cavs played horrible last night, they did have a few bright spots. LeBron James finished with 28 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks. Kyrie Irving finished with 24 points. Kevin Love finished with 15 points, 21 rebounds, and three blocks. Tristan Thompson was nonexistent finishing with zero points and four rebounds. Tristan must play better if the Cavs want to have a shot of beating the Warriors.

The Cleveland Cavaliers finished with 20 turnovers, whereas the Golden State Warriors finished with only four turnovers. Turnovers were a key to Golden State's rout of the Cavs.

Game two will take place on Sunday, June 4, at 8 PM ET on ESPN at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

2017 NBA Finals Preview

Today starts the 2017 NBA Finals, a rematch between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Last year the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead to the Cavaliers.

This past off season the Warriors signed, superstar small forward, Kevin Durant to replace the horrific shooting of Harrison Barnes in last year's NBA Finals. The signing of Kevin Durant turned the Warriors team from a great team to a juggernaut.

The Cavs and Warriors played twice against each other this season. The Cavs won the first game on Christmas Day, in Cleveland, on a game-winner jumper by Kyrie Irving 109-108. In the second game, the Warriors gave the Cavaliers a reality check beating them 126-91 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Ca.

The key to the Cavaliers winning the NBA Finals is winning game one tonight to set the tone. Also, LeBron can't be passive at all this whole series he needs to be aggressive at all times. Kyrie just needs to continue to be Kyrie. The wildcard for the Cavaliers, if they want to upset the Warriors in the series, is which Kevin Love will show up the Minnesota Kevin Love, or the stand around and watch Kyrie and LeBron do all the work, Kevin Love. Iman Shumpert must find a way to at least slowdown Klay Thompson. Last but not least, the Cavaliers need their shooters, JR Smith, Kyle Korver & Channing Frye to knock down their three-point shots.

The keys to the Golden State Warriors winning this NBA Finals is, Kevin Durant just needs to play better than Harrison Barnes did last year. Steph Curry just needs to be Steph Curry. Draymond Green needs to continue to be the energy guy, do the dirty work on the rebounds, score, and pile up assists. Klay Thompson needs to play every game this NBA Finals like he played game five of last year's NBA Finals. The last key for the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Finals is their bench must give them production. Everyone else just needs to just needs to play their role and play it well.

The 2017 NBA Finals starts tonight 9 PM ET on ABC. Saying this series will be exciting is an understatement.

Cleveland Cavaliers Send the Toronto Raptors Home Early

The Toronto Raptors were playing an elimination game win or go home. The Raptors played today's game accordingly, they took control of the game for the first ten minutes of the game leading the Cleveland Cavaliers 26-17. But, the Cavaliers quickly answered back to end the first quarter tied 28 -28.

The second quarter is where the Cavs were able to create some distance from the Raptors. Kyle Korver was a key contributor to the Cavs second quarter run, Korver scored 16 points in the second quarter. Korver scoring outburst leads to the Cavs leading the Raptors 61-49 at the half.

In the third quarter, the Raptors showed the Cavaliers; they weren't going home easily. DeMar DeRozan found a way to get his shot off even with the constant double teams. Serge Ibaka hit several key jumpers in the third quarter to keep the Raptors in striking distance. Norman Powell even helped by hitting a few jumpers of his own. P.J. Tucker defense kept the Raptors in containment. At the end of the third quarter, the Cavs lead the Raptors 85-80.

In the fourth quarter, Kyrie Irving made it be known that the Raptors season was ending today and there would be no game five. Kyrie Irving scored the Cavs last 11 points from the six-minute mark to the two-minute mark.

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Toronto Raptors 109-102. The Cleveland Cavaliers will face the winner of the Boston Celtics-Washington Wizards series in the Eastern Conference Finals.

LeBron James finished with 35 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Kyrie Irving finished with 27 points, nine assists, five rebounds, and four steals. Kyle Korver finished with 18 points and five rebounds off the bench. Channing Frye finished with ten points off the bench.

Serge Ibaka finished with 23 points. DeMar DeRozan finished with 22 points, eights assists, and four rebounds. Cory Joseph finished with 20 points, playoff career-high 12 assists, and six rebounds. P.J. Tucker finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. Norman Powell finished with ten points off the bench.

We will soon see how the Raptors front office operates this off season, to either keep the core group or shake things up, and go after other free agents this summer.

Memphis Grizzlies Holds off Kawhi Leonard's Playoff Career Night and Evens the Series 2-2

Kawhi Leonard was playing like a man possessed out there on the court last night. Kawhi could do no wrong last night. The only mistake he made last night was missing a jumper at the end of regulation that forced the game to overtime.

Kawhi scored San Antonio Spurs last 16 points in the fourth quarter.

But, every time Kawhi tried to take the heart out of the Memphis Grizzlies, Mike Conley answered back with a basket of his own.

It looked like Conley & Leonard were in a one on one battle, and the rest of players were out there for the show.

Kawhi Leonard finished with a playoff career-high 43 points, eight rebounds, and six steals.

Although Kawhi was the standout player for the San Antonio Spurs, Tony Parker contributed with 22 points, five assists, and four rebounds. LaMarcus Aldridge finished with 13 points. Pau Gasol gave the Spurs bench production; he finished with eight points and 13 rebounds.

Mike Conley who was the standout player for the Memphis Grizzlies last night, he finished with 35 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. The Grizzlies also had others contribute in the game four win. Zach Randolph finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Marc Gasol finished 16 points and 12 rebounds. Marc Gasol also hit the game-winning shot to even the series at 2-2. Vince Carter finished with 13 points. JaMychal Green finished with 14 points off the bench. Aaron Harrison finished with seven points off the bench, along with a game-saving block.

The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the San Antonio Spurs 110-108 in overtime.

Game five will take place on Tuesday, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Clippers Bounce Back in Game Two to even the Series

The Los Angeles Clippers won a pivotal game last night against the Utah Jazz. After losing game one to the Jazz, they needed to win this game as they head to Utah for game three & four.

The Clippers started off the game on an 11-3 run. The Clippers were playing like it was game seven of the finals. They need to play this way the rest of the series. The Clippers kept their foot on the pedal and led the Jazz 51-42 at halftime.

However, the Jazz fought throughout the game. The Jazz surprisingly cut the lead to 94-88 with 2:10 left in the fourth quarter. But, the Clippers were able to pull away when Blake Griffin hit a clutch three to seal the game.

Blake Griffin finished with 24 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Chris Paul finished with 21 points, ten assists, and three steals. DeAndre Jordan finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Jamal Crawford finished with ten points off the bench.

Gordon Hayward finished with 20 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Derrick Favors finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. George Hill finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. The  Jazz received some key contributions off the bench. Joe Johnson came off the benched and scored 13 points. Rodney Hood came off the bench and scored ten points.

The real question is will Rudy Gobert return in the playoffs? If Rudy Gobert returns, I like the Utah Jazz chances of winning the series in seven.

Draymond Green Dominates Game One

Yesterday afternoon started the championship run for the Golden State Warriors against the Portland Trail Blazers. Everyone had their eyes on how Kevin Durant would debut in his first playoff game as a Warrior. People wanted to see how would Kevin Durant & Steph Curry would coexist on the court.

As we saw yesterday, they coexisted on the court together pretty well. Kevin Durant finished with 32 points and ten rebounds. Steph Curry finished with 29 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

The Portland Trail Blazers gave the Warriors everything they could until about 4:46 left in the fourth quarter. The Trail Blazers & the Warriors were tied 88-88 at the end of the third quarter. But, with 4:46 left in the fourth quarter Damian Lillard drove aggressively down the lane and tried to put Draymond on a poster. However, instead of Damian Lillard putting Draymond on a poster, Draymond blocks Lillard and takes the heart out of the Trail Blazers.

Damian Lillard finished with 34 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. CJ McCollum finished with 41 points and eight rebounds. You can't even say nobody else stepped up for the Trail Blazers other than Lillard & McCollum. Evan Turner finished with 12 points, ten rebounds, and four assists. Maurice Harkless finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and two steals. But, if the Trail Blazers want to beat the Warriors they're going to need Jusuf Nurkic to come back healthy.

Draymond Green stole the headline yesterday afternoon with his phenomenal performance. If you still had questions about who would win the Defensive Player of the Year award, Draymond answered those questions. Draymond finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, five blocks, and three steals. Draymond Green made a statement last night with a stat line like that.

Can Draymond repeat that performance again, or come close to it? We will find out Wednesday night.

San Antonio Stars Drafts NCAA Women's Basketball All-time Leading Scorer

After finishing 7-27 in the 2016 WNBA season, the San Antonio Stars had the number one pick in the 2017 draft. The San Antonio Stars made the obvious decision and drafted the all-time leading NCAA Women's Basketball scoring leader Kelsey Plum.

Kelsey Plum played for the Washington Huskies. Kelsey Plum scored 3,397 career points while playing at Washington. Plum also averaged 31.6 points per game this year.

Kelsey won numerous awards during her four years at Washington. Kelsey won the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, AP Player of the Year, espnW Player of the Year, and unanimous first team All-American selection, to name a few awards.

Kelsey Plum brings scoring, leadership, and toughness to the San Antonio Stars, something they desperately need after an abysmal season.

If Kayla McBride comes back playing like she did before the fractured foot injury happened, the San Antonio Stars could have a dynamic back court with McBride & Plum next season.

The San Antonio Stars open up their season on April 29th, when they play the Dallas Wings for a preseason game.

Number one seed on the line Tonight for the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics head into the game tonight, against the Milwaukee Bucks as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. They're currently one game ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoff race.

The Celtics must beat the Bucks tonight, to clinch the number one seed. If the Celtics lose, and the Cavaliers win tonight, they will be the number two seed in the East.

Although, the Celtics have had two tough games, against the Bucks before tonight's game. The Celtics beat the Bucks, on January 26, 112-108 in OT on the road. However, on March 29, the Celtics lost to the Bucks 103-100 at home.

I expect the Boston Celtics, to beat the Milwaukee Bucks tonight, with the number one seed on the line.

Russell Westbrook Rewrites History

Russell Westbrook rewrote history last night against the Denver Nuggets. After becoming the second player in NBA history since Oscar Robertson, to average a triple-double all season last Friday.

Russell Westbrook wasn't done breaking records. Last night, Russell Westbrook broke the single season record for most triple doubles which was set by Oscar Robertson at 41. Westbrook finished with 50 points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists. With that performance, Russell Westbrook now has 42 triple-doubles in a season.

As if breaking the single season record for most triple-doubles wasn't enough, Russell Westbrook added a cherry on top with a buzzer beater three from 36 ft out to beat the Denver Nuggets 106-105.

Shockingly, that was his first career buzzer beater, but I'm pretty sure there will be plenty more in his career.

Some are born to fit in, and then there is Russell Westbrook who was born to stand out. Westbrook has silenced every critic this season with his phenomenal play.

I know the MVP award is based off winning, but if you would have told me the Oklahoma City Thunder, would be the sixth seed in the Western Conference Playoffs after Kevin Durant left them in the off season. I would have laughed in your face and said you were crazy.

Russell Westbrook has taken a  subpar team to the playoffs. I think that alone should be enough to win the MVP award; nonetheless, he averaged a triple-double all season.

We will soon see if the voters have some common sense on who should be the MVP this year.

Damian Lillard's Career Night Keeps the Trail Blazers in Playoff Contention

Damian Lillard played like a man possessed last night. The Trail Blazers, currently hold the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoff race, with a 1.5 lead over the Denver Nuggets. Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers refused to risk their playoff hopes by losing to the Jazz last night, who currently hold the fifth seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

Lillard and the Trail Blazers started the game off on a 24-8 run to begin the game. The Trail Blazers controlled the game from tip-off to the final buzzer.

Damian Lillard stole the show last night he scored a career-high 59 points, he also had six rebounds and five assists. Damian Lillard's 59 points was also a franchise record.

The Trail Blazers defeated the Utah Jazz last night 101-86. The Trail Blazers are now just one game away from clinching a playoff berth.

Their last two games are at home against the San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Pelicans. I like their chances of clinching that playoff berth against the Pelicans in the season finale game.

One Triple-Double away from History

Never in my life did I expect to see two things, the first is seeing someone get close to scoring 100 points in an NBA game, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, in January of 2006. The second was seeing someone average a triple-double for a whole season, well Russell Westbrook, made that a reality last night.

Russell Westbrook has become the first player to join Oscar Robertson in averaging a triple double. That record was set in the 1961-62 season; it took 55 years for that record to be broken.

Last night, Russell Westbrook had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Westbrook was two assists shy of breaking Oscar Robertson record of most triple doubles in a season which is 41.

Westbrook has three more games to break the most triple doubles in a season record. The next three games for the Thunder are between the Denver Nuggets twice, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

I'm positive he will get the record before the season ends.

Kentucky Wins a Revenge Game

Back on December 3rd, Kentucky lost to UCLA at Rupp Arena 97-92. You have to be somewhat delusional if you think Kentucky forgot about losing a close game against UCLA at home. TJ Leaf and Issac Hamilton had dominated Kentucky, Leaf finished with 17 points, and Hamilton finished 19 points. Lonzo Ball also finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and six rebounds.

Now let's fast forward to last night, UCLA and Kentucky were going at it the first half. Kentucky lead at the end of the first half 36-33 over UCLA. But, it was just something different about last night game. The Kentucky Wildcats was playing like they wanted to win more than the UCLA Bruins.

The second half was no different, De'Aaron Fox came out the second half with a quick layup, followed by a steal that led to a dunk. Malik Monk tried not to be outshined by his backcourt running mate by hitting a quick three, followed by a made jumper, and another three-point shot made.

By that point, Kentucky jumped out to a 60-51 lead over UCLA with 11:30 left in the second half. Kentucky didn't let up either, Kentucky even got some scoring contributions from Dominique Hawkins, and Isiah Briscoe who are more known for defense.

Kentucky sealed the game with De'Aaron Fox making free throws, Edrice Adebayo making a statement dunk, and Malik Monk with an exclamation block at the end of the game on Bryce Alford. Kentucky defeated UCLA 86-75, to advance to Elite Eight, to face number one seed North Carolina on Sunday.

Lonzo Ball struggled all night he shot four for ten from the field, one for six from the 3 point line.  Lonzo finished with ten points, eight assists,  three rebounds, two blocks, and four turnovers. TJ Leaf finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. Bryce Alford finished with 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Issac Hamilton had 17 points and five rebounds. Thomas Welsh had nine points, seven rebounds, and one block before he fouled out.

Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox had a career-high 39 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Malik Monk finished with 21 points, three rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and one steal. Derek Willis had eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one block. Dominique Hawkins had a 11 points off the bench, and one steal.

76ers Make Late Moves at the Trade Deadline

The 76ers have made two surprising trades in the last two days.

Yesterday, they traded Ersan Ilyasova, to the Atlanta Hawks for Tiago Splitter, who has been battling injuries all season. The 76ers also received a 2017 second-round pick and can swap their 2017 second-round pick with the Atlanta Hawks.

A few hours ago, the 76ers traded away Nerlens Noel for Andrew Bogut, who probably get a buyout, and play for a championship contender team. Also, the 76ers received Justin Anderson a young shooting guard, who can shoot and play good defense. The 76ers also received a 2017 first-round pick from the Dallas Mavericks; the only problem is the draft pick is top 18 protected. So, if the Dallas Mavericks picks falls in the top 18, that first round pick turns into two 2017 second-round picks.

We will see if they make any other moves, before the trade deadline, that ends today at 3 PM ET.

Magic is Bringing Magic Back to the Los Angeles Lakers Franchise

After hours of firing Jim Buss, and making Magic Johnson the President of Basketball Operations. Magic Johnson and the Lakers traded away one of their best scorers Lou Williams, who had been averaging 18.6 points per game this season, to the Houston Rockets. The Lakers received Corey Brewer and the Houston Rockets 2017 first-round pick. Lou Williams has been having a phenomenal season, which could lead to him winning, the Sixth Man of the Year award this season.

Now rumors are circling, that Magic and the Lakers, are going after Indiana Pacers All-Star shooting guard Paul George. It looks like Magic, is trying to bring back honor to the Lakers franchise sooner rather than later.

Also, Rob Pelinka, who was Kobe Bryant's former agent, is now the GM for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The New Orleans Pelicans Make a Blockbuster Trade

Last night after the All-Star game, the New Orleans Pelicans made a blockbuster trade with the Sacramento Kings. The Pelicans received All-Star Center, DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi from the Kings. The Kings received Buddy Hield, a struggling sixth overall pick from the 2016 draft, Tyreke Evans, a good player, but an injury prone player, Langston Galloway, who probably will get waived. The Kings also, received New Pelicans 2017 first round pick, which is top three protected, and a 2nd round pick that the Pelicans received from the Philadelphia 76ers.

The trade shocked everybody, especially when the Kings management had said earlier in the week that Cousins will not be traded. DeMarcus Cousins has been averaging 27.8 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, and 4.8 assists per game this season. We will see how the two former Kentucky stars, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins will mesh on the court, in New Orleans.

NBA All-Star Weekend Breakdown

NBA All-Star weekend is finally here! This weekend the NBA All-Star weekend takes place in New Orleans from February 17- February 19th. NBA All-Star weekend is always exciting, but this year All-Star weekend maybe the most exciting in while due to being in one the most exciting cities the US has to offer especially with Mardi Gras still going on. The NBA All-Star weekend kicks off tonight, at 9 PM EST on TNT, between the USA vs. World game. This game was previously called the Rising Stars game which focused on rookies and sophomores who were excelling that season. However, with the NBA continuing to add overseas talent changing the name to the USA vs. the World was a more suitable name for the game.

Some players that headline the US team is Karl-Anthony Towns, who's averaging 23.1 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game. In my eyes, he shouldn't even be playing in this game; he should be in the All-Star game for the West on Sunday. Other players who highlight the roster is the 2016 number two draft pick Brandon Ingram, 2015 second overall pick D'Angelo Russell, and 2015 third overall pick Jahlil Okafor. Jahlil Okafor has had a pretty bizarre season so far, he has had healthy DNP, not traveling with the team to road games so the team could trade him, but through all that he remained professional and still has averaged 11.7 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game off the bench. Another player that was putting up All-Star numbers on the US team is rising star is Devin Booker who is averaging 21.1 points per game for a depleted Phoenix Suns team. Myles Turner has also been progressing in his second season with the Indiana Pacers he is average 15.6 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, and 2.1 blocks per game. One notable player on this roster that may be under the radar is Michael Brogdon who plays shooting guard for the Milwaukee Bucks. Brogdon averages 9.4 points per game and 4.2 points per game. Those might sound like small numbers but when you're coming off the bench, and Kris Middleton starting to look like his old self after coming back from injury those are pretty good numbers.

Some players that headline the World team is 2015 fourth overall pick Kristaps Porzingis, who's averaging 18.3 points per game, 7.2 points per game, and 1.96 blocks per game for the New York Knicks. Other players that highlight this World team 2014 third overall pick Joel Embiid, 2014 12th overall pick Dario Saric, Nikola Jokic, and Trey Lyles. Unfortunately, trust the process phenom, Joel Embiid who's averaging 20.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game, and 2.45 blocks per game for the rising Philadelphia 76ers will not be playing due to "meniscus" problem in his knee. Many might not know who Dario Saric was drafted in 2012 with the 12th overall pick by the Orlando Magic, but was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for 2014 tenth overall pick Elfrid Payton. This year is his first season because he had contract restrictions from his overseas team in Croatia. Dario has averaged 10.8 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Philadelphia 76ers.

I think the World team will beat the US team and Kristaps Porzingis will win the MVP of the game.

On Saturday night,  the Skills Challenge, Three-Point Shootout, and the Dunk Contest will take place. The skills challenge contestants will be Devin Booker, DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic, Gordon Hayward, Kristaps Porzingis, Isaiah Thomas, and John Wall. In the finals, a big man faces the guard for the Skills Challenge trophy. I pick Anthony Davis to make it to the finals to face Isiah Thomas in the finals, and Isiah Thomas wins the Skills Challenge trophy. Isiah Thomas has all the intangibles to win the challenge; he can shoot the three ball effortlessly, he can make a good bounce past, and can dribble the ball swiftly down the court yet under control.

The Three- Point Shootout contestants are Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon, Wes Matthews, CJ McCollum, Kemba Walker, and Nick Young. My sleeper to win the three-point shootout is Kyle Lowry, who made the second most three-point shots at this point with 185 three-point shots made, but in reality, I think Klay Thompson will win the three-point shootout contest again.

The Dunk Contest is the final event of Saturday night, the contestants for this year's dunk contest is Aaron Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, Glenn Robinson III, and Derrick Jones, Jr. In all honesty, I think they picked these names out of the hat because nobody with some sense wants to see this. If DeAndre doesn't get an alley oop or does a put back dunk, I don't see anything that will get me out of my seat from his dunks. Another thing is Derrick Jones, Jr, where did they find him under a rock? He is a D-League player how did he even get selected, but you know the unknown is the one you have to watch out for. Glenn Robinson III is in the dunk contest; I didn't even know he was still in the NBA.  I predict Aaron Gordon will win the dunk contest; this is his dunk contest to lose.

On Sunday night, the All-Star game takes place. It's nice to see first-time All-Stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Gordon Hayward. But, what everyone is looking forward to is how will Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook react to each other during All-Star weekend.

I believe the West All- Stars will obliterate the East All-Stars. The East has too
many guards as reserves and can't guard the height from the West All-Stars reserves. I know what most people would say they can out run them, and my response to that who is going to out run Russell Westbrook, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson they have endless energy. Plus what East All-Stars reserves are going to guard Marc Gasol, DeMarcus Cousins, and DeAndre Jordan. If you think Paul Millsap can guard any of those three congratulations, you played yourself.

I predict the score would be 185 West All-Stars to 164 East All- Stars. I predict Anthony Davis, will win All-Star MVP in his city, and he will score 40 points and have 12 rebounds.

Keys to Winning the Super Bowl

Tonight Super Bowl 51 takes place in Houston, TX between the Atlanta Falcons & the New England Patriots. Tom Brady comes into this game trying to win his fifth Super Bowl ring, while Matt Ryan is trying to win his first Super Bowl ring. This is the second time the Atlanta Falcons has made it to the Super Bowl in team history. The New England Patriots, however, are no stranger to the Super Bowl this is their 9th Super Bowl appearance in nine seasons.

The keys for the Falcons to win this game on the defense side is to get some pressure on Tom Brady. The Falcons don't need just Vic Beasley to get some pressure on Brady; they need Dwight Freeney, Ra'Shede Hageman, and the rest of the defensive line to produce also tonight. Another key for the Falcons to win is for their rookies on defense continue to overachieve tonight. Also, the Falcons secondary needs to keep their eyes on Chris Hogan. Normally defenses pay so much attention to Julius Edelman and Danny Amendola that they forget about Chris Hogan and he goes off for a big game as he did against the Pittsburgh Steelers a few weeks ago having where he had nine receptions, 180 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Also, the Falcons defense needs to force a plethora of three and outs as well as some turnovers to keep the Patriots offense out of sync all game.

The keys for the Falcons to win this game on the offensive side is to score a touchdown on their first drive to send a statement to Tom Brady and the Patriots that they aren't just happy to be here, but here to win it. Matt Ryan must continue to show the poise he has shown all season and continue to spread the ball around to all his weapons on offense such as Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, Taylor Gabriel, Tevin Coleman, and Devonta Freeman. The Falcons must also run the ball efficiently to keep the Patriots secondary and linebackers guessing so they won't just sit back in coverage all day making Matt Ryan job harder than it has to be.

The keys for the Patriots to win this game on the defensive side is don't try to double team Julio; this is not the Pittsburgh Steelers the Falcons have too many offensive threats. If you double Julio Mohamed Sanu, Taylor Gabriel, Tevin Coleman,  Devonta Freeman, or Austin Hooper will just have a big game. The Patriots defense must get pressure on Matt Ryan and force some turnovers to keep the high-powered Falcons offense out of sync.

The keys for the Patriots to win this game on the offensive side is to have nice long drives that end with points. The longer the drive, the less the Patriots defense has to see Matt Ryan and the high -powered Atlanta Falcons offense. They must have an efficient run game to slow down the Falcons superb pass rush.

In the end, I predict the Atlanta Falcons will win their first Super Bowl in team history against the New England Patriots 28-21.

Clemson Wins Redemption National Championship Game

Last night was a rematch of the national championship game between Alabama and Clemson. Last year Alabama beat Clemson 44-40. Clemson players said all year they looked at the banner in their practice facility that said 2016 National Finalist and refused to have another banner saying anything other than National Champions.

Both Alabama and Clemson both punted on their first drives. Clemson's defense line was manhandling Alabama's offensive line putting a lot of pressure on Jalen Hurts and preventing some of the passes that were batted down and luckily not intercepted.

But, on Alabama's second drive the offense was able to drive the ball down the field on Clemson's defense. Jalen Hurts was able to rush for 20 yards on one play. Clemson's defense also helped Alabama's offense with a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty. Alabama capped off a three play 59-yard drive with a 25-yard touchdown run by Bo Scarbrough to give Alabama a 7-0 lead with 9:23 left in the first quarter.  Clemson and Alabama next couple of drives lead to a few punts. Watson didn't look like the same Deshaun Watson from last year's national championship in the first quarter.

Clemson special teams made a big play by blocking a punt that leads to the ball being downed at Clemson own 37-yard line. Deshaun Watson first play was able to rush for five yards. But, unfortunately even with good field position that drive was cut short due to a bad snap by the center tot Deshaun Watson and was recovered by Alabama's defense.

Early in the second quarter, Alabama's offense was once again able to move the ball down the field quickly. The drive started off with a run for 25 yards by ArDarius Stewart to Clemson 49-yard line. Jalen Hurts and Calvin Ridley connected for two plays for nine yards. The five play 74-yard drive was capped off with a 37-yard touchdown run by Bo Scarbrough his second of the day to give Alabama a 14-0 lead with 10:42 left in the second quarter.

Clemson offense finally was able to get things going late in the second quarter. Deshaun Watson threw a pass to Deon Cain Tampa Bay native, that went for 43 yards. Watson later in the drive followed up with a 26-yard completion to Jordan Leggett for 26 yards. Watson was also able to connect with his favorite target Mike Williams another Tampa Bay native for five yards. Watson finished off a seven play 87-yard drive with an eight-yard touchdown run to cut Alabama lead to 14-7.

In the third quarter, Clemson offense received the ball first. Watson and the offense once again turned the ball over. Wayne Gallman was stripped by Alabama's own Ryan Anderson and was returned for 12 yards before being tackled at Clemson's 16-yard line. Luckily Clemson's defense was able only to hold Alabama's offense to a field goal. Alabama now lead 17-7 with 12:25 left in the third quarter.

Clemson offense redeemed themselves later in the third quarter thanks to good field position due to a bad punt that started their offense at Alabama's 42-yard line. Deshaun Watson was able to connect with wide receiver Deon Cain on a 14-yard pass play. Watson capped off a four play 42-yard drive with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow to cut Alabama lead 17-14 with 7:10 left in the third quarter.

Alabama offense, however, was able to score again late in the third quarter. Jalen Hurts was able to throw a 68-yard touchdown to O.J. Howard to give Alabama a 24-14 lead with 1:53 left in the third quarter.

Clemson was able to score quickly in the fourth quarter with a four-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to Mike Williams to cap off nine play 72-yard drive which cut Alabama's lead to 24-21 with 14 minutes left in the game.

Clemson was able to score again with a drive that started from Clemson's own 12-yard line. Watson was able to make a 17-yard completion to Jordan Leggett that took them to their own 43-yard line. The next play Watson completed a 26-yard pass to Mike Williams. They were given an additional 15-yards due to unsportsmanlike conduct by Alabama's Da'Ron Payne which leads to a 1st & 10 at Alabama's 16-yard line. Watson then rushed for 15 yards that set up a first & goal at the one-yard line. Wayne Gallman redeemed himself from the fumble earlier to score on a one-yard touchdown run that gave Clemson their first lead of the game 28-24 with 4:38 left in the fourth quarter.

Alabama answered back with a touchdown of their own. Jalen Hurts made a couple of key passes to Damien Harris, ArDarius Stewart, and O.J. Howard. Jalen Hurts capped off a six play 68-yard drive with a 30-yard touchdown run that gave Alabama back the lead 31-28 with 2:07 left in the game.

Clemson had one more shot to achieve their goal they set at the beginning of the season win the national championship. C.J. Fuller had 20-yard kickoff return which gave Watson and the offense good field position to start at their own 32-yard line. Deshaun Watson made a big completion to Mike Williams for 24 yards that took them to Alabama's 39-yard line. Deshaun Watson made another big completion to Jordan Leggett for 17 yards to get them to Alabama's nine-yard line. The next play Watson tried to throw a pass to Mike Williams but, Anthony Averett held him and was called for a pass interference at Alabama's two-yard line which set up a 1st & goal at the two-yard line. Deshaun Watson capped off the game-winning drive with a nine play 58-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow. Clemson won the game 35-31. This was Clemson's second National Title in school history.

Deshaun Watson was able to complete 36 of 56 passes for 420 passing yards, 43 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns. Wayne Gallman had 46 rushing yards and one touchdown. Hunter Renfrow had ten receptions for 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Leggett had seven receptions for 95 receiving yards. Mike Williams had eight receptions for 94 receiving yards and one touchdown. Deon Cain had five receptions for 94 receiving yards. Artavis Scott and C.J. Fuller had 130 kick return yards combined. Clemson defense had seven tackles for loss and five pass deflections.

Jalen Hurts completed 13 of 31 passes for 131 passing yards, 63 rushing yards, and two total touchdowns. Bo Scarbrough rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns. O.J. Howard had four receptions for 106 receiving yards and one touchdown. Alabama's defense had four sacks, six tackles for loss, and one pass deflection.

Green Bay Packers Annihilates the New York Giants

The game began looking as if it would be a defensive game. The New York Giants' first drive started off pretty decent, but the Green Bay defense was able to stop it. New York made a peculiar decision to punt the ball the rather than kick the field goal despite being at the Green Bay 38 yard line. I think the weather might of had something to do with the decision to punt the ball. Green Bay looked horrible on their first drive, running three plays for eight yards where they were forced to punt the ball back to the Giants' offense.

On the second drive for the Giants, Eli and Sterling Shepherd were able to connect on two passes for 39 yards during the drive. Eli also was able to connect with Victor Cruz for one pass for seven yards. Paul Perkins was able to catch a pass from Eli for six yards. Even though the Giants were able to move the ball down the field for nine plays and 54 yards they only were able to get a field goal out of it.

After several punts by both teams, the Giants were able to move the ball on the Packers defense once again. Eli was able to connect with Will Tye on a 51-yard pass. Eli followed that play up with a six-yard pass to Victor Cruz. You could hear the New York fans at Lambeau Field shout out Cruz in harmony. But, once again all New York could do was kick a field goal once again. The score was now 6-0 in favor of the New York Giants with 7:24 left in the second half.

For the first time, the Green Bay Packers was able to get a good field position from a decent return from Michael Hyde on a punt return that set up Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense at the Giants' 38 yards. Aaron Rodgers showed his appreciation to Hyde's good return by throwing a 31-yard pass to Davante Adams for 31 yards. The next play, Ty Montgomery was only able to run two yards until Oliver Vernon tackled him. On the third play of the drive, Aaron Rodgers was able to throw a 5-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone to Davante Adams. Rodgers had all day in the pocket. The Packers now lead the Giants 7-6 with 2:24 left in the second quarter.

You would think Eli and the Giants offense would answer back with a touchdown of their own. If you thought that, you thought wrong because they went three and out. Aaron Rodgers got the ball and was able to do what Aaron Rodgers does best, throw Hail Mary passes that leave everyone scratching their head asking how did he complete that pass. Rodgers threw a Hail Mary to Randall Cobb that somehow slipped through everyone hands and dropped right into Cobb's hand as if it was a late Christmas present for another Packers touchdown. The Packers lead 14-6 to end the half.

The Packers received the ball first in the second half but were unable to get anything going leading to a quick punt. The Giants answered back with a three and out and a quick punt of their own. Green Bay was able to get the ball moving based off the run game from Christine Michael for 27 yards. But, they were stopped on 4th &1 by the Giants defense for a turnover on downs at their own 42-yard line. The Giants offense quickly answered with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Eli to Tavarres King. The Packers now lead 14-13 with 5:16 left in the third quarter.

Green Bay started off in great field position thanks to Christine Michael returning the ball to Green Bay's 37 yard line from a 31-yard return. Aaron Rodgers made several clutch passes that set up a 30-yard touchdown to Randall Cobb. The Packers now lead 21-13 with 2:53 left in the third quarter.  After New York's punt, the Packers were able to kick a field goal to increase their lead to 24-13 to end the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Green Bay Packers kept their foot on the gas. Aaron Rodgers lead a ten play 80-yard drive that lead to a 16-yard touchdown from Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb. The next Giants drive Eli did what Eli does best, turn the ball over. Eli was sacked by Clay Matthews where he fumbled the ball; and Matthews recovered to give the Green Bay offense the ball back. Green Bay's offense ran nine plays for 55 yards that lead to a one-yard touchdown by Aaron Ripkowski. The Packers lead 38-13 with 2:43 left in the fourth quarter. The Giants offense was able to move the ball down the field to the Packers 13-yard line before Eli threw an interception to Damarious Randall that lead to a 79 interception return before getting knocked out of bounds at the Giants 29 yard line to seal the game. The Packers defeated the Giants 38-13.

Aaron Rodgers was able to complete 25 of 40 passes for 362 passing yards, and four touchdowns. Davante Adams had eight receptions for 125 receiving yards and one touchdown. Randall Cobb had five receptions for 116 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The defense was able to force two turnovers.

Eli Manning was able to complete 23 of 44 passes for 299 yards, one touchdown, and two turnovers. Tavarres King had three receptions for 73 receiving yards and one touchdown. Will Tye had four receptions for 66 receiving yards. Sterling Shepard had four receptions for 63 yards. Odell Beckham had a disappointing four catches for 28 yards. Odell also dropped a surprising three passes.

The Green Bay Packers will travel to Arlington, TX to face the high-powered Dallas Cowboys offense next Sunday in the NFC Divisional game. Dallas beat Green Bay 30-16 in their lone matchup this season in week six. The Packers will more than likely be without Rodger's favorite receiver Jordy Nelson.

Temple's Late 2nd Half Push Still Isn't Enough to Beat SMU

Last night the Temple Owls took on the SMU Mustangs in Dallas, TX. Temple got off to a hot start with a pair of threes from Obi Enechionyia and Shizz Alston, and a layup from Ernest Aflakpui, giving them an 8-2 lead with 17:18 minutes left in the first half.
