ACC Dominating NCAA Tournament

No one expected the ACC to be this strong in the NCAA Tournament outside of Duke, Notre Dame, and Virginia. Maybe you could throw in North Carolina and Louisville but they have been playing very inconsistent this season so you really didn't know if they would show up ready to play or continue to play inconsistent. But the ACC is 11-1 thus far in the NCAA Tournament. There was plenty of upsets that happened this past weekend some people expected and some that just basically ruined most people brackets. No matter how hard you try to pick the upset games in the bracket challenge majority of the time people rarely get them right. Let's get started with the biggest upset of the weekend with NC State beating Villanova. Most people didn't even think NC State would get past LSU in the second round but, NC State proved everyone wrong. Not only did they make it out the second round but they also made it out the third round this past Saturday by beating Villanova which advances them to the sweet 16. NC State beat Villanova in a nail biter 71 to 68. NC State was lead by freshman player Abdul-Malik Adu who had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Lennard Freeman also was a big part of the NC State win had 11 points and 12 rebounds. The guard play from NC State was phenomenal Trevor Lacey had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. The next big upset was the 1 loss an ACC team has had. 7 seed Michigan State upset 2 seed Virginia 60-54. But, that upset isn't very shocking since Virginia has been struggling through their last few games. Also Justin Anderson hasn't been playing to well after coming back from his broken finger injury. Travis Trice was a big part to why Michigan State beat Virginia he had 23 points and 3 assists. Branden Dawson also contributed to the upset win by Michigan State he had 15 points and 9 rebounds.

Notre Dame won a nail biter against Butler this past Saturday night in overtime. The final score was 67 to 64. Notre Dame won because of their strong guard play. Steve Vasturia had 20 points, and 6 rebounds. Jerian Grant had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Demetrius Jackson had 13 points, and 2 assists. Notre Dame will play Wichita Sate this Thursday in the Sweet 16.

Louisville was able to take care of Northern Iowa last night. Louisville won 66 to 53. Louisville was lead by strong play from Terry Rozier who had 25 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds. Montrezl Harrell had 14 points, and 6 rebounds. Wayne Blackshear also contributed in the win with 10 points, and 6 rebounds. Quentin Snider had 10 points, and 4 rebounds. As I said earlier Louisville will play NC State in the Sweet 16 this Friday.

The North Carolina Tar Heels took care of Arkansas this past Saturday. North Carolina won 87 to 78. The Tar Heels were lead by Point Guard Marcus Paige who had 22 points, and 6 rebounds. Justin Jackson had 16 points, and 3 rebounds. J.P. Tokoto had 13 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Brice Johnson had 7 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists. Nate Britt had 10 points, and 4 rebounds. Kennedy Meeks had 9 points, and 4 rebounds. North Carolina will play Wisconsin in the Sweet 16 this  Thursday night.

Last but not least is the best the team out of the ACC Conference is the Duke Blue Devils. Duke beat San Diego State yesterday 68 to 49. Duke was lead by freshman standout Jahlil Okafor who had 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Justice Winslow also contributed with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. Quinn Cook had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Tyus Jones had a quiet game but he had 6 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds. Duke will play Utah in the Sweet 16 this Friday night. We will see if these ACC Teams can continue to advance to the Elite 8 only time will tell.
