Hampton Wins MEAC Championship and Advances to NCAA Tournament
With Delaware State beating the number #1 seed in the MEAC in NCCU Friday night and Hampton beating the #2 seed Friday night in the MEAC in Norfolk State. Everything was going right for Hampton and it was looking like they will make another appearance to the NCAA Tournament. Hampton got hot at the right time in March and showed the true meaning of March Madness. They were a force to be reckoned with in the MEAC Tournament. Hampton won 4 games in 6 days.
Hampton beat Delaware State yesterday 75 to 64 in the MEAC Championship. Reginald Johnson and Brian Darden each had 20 a piece for Hampton which was a big reason why they won. Deron Powers contributed as well with 16 points. They also slowed down the number 6 scorer in the country in Amere May he finished with 20 points. But, in the first half he only scored 5 points. Delaware State other score Tyshawn Bell had just 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Now Hampton Men's Basketball is waiting for Selection Sunday that comes on CBS at 6 PM Eastern today to see who they play in the NCAA Tournament. They haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 2011. No one expected them to make it to NCAA Tournament but they beat the odds. They're going into the tournament with nothing to lose and their is nothing more dangerous then playing a team in the NCAA Tournament that has nothing to lose because usually that is when an upset happens. We will soon find out if Hampton can keep the streak alive in the NCAA Tournament.
