McCoy Traded to The Buffalo Bills

Tuesday night the Philadelphia Eagles started the football frenzy before March 10. The Philadelphia Eagles traded LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso. This trade left not only Eagles fans in shock but everyone across the country in shock. No one would ever think they will trade their star running back for a linebacker who is just coming off a torn ACL injury which made him miss the whole season this year. The Eagles have been making some questionable decisions these past few days by not franchise tagging Jeremy Maclin, releasing Trent Cole, Cary Williams, and now trading away LeSean McCoy.

LeSean McCoy is a very explosive running back and will make not only the first man miss in the backfield but the second, third, and fourth man miss then break for about 20 yards. The Eagles really are going to miss the play of McCoy. McCoy rushed for 1,319 yards this year and 5 touchdowns. His numbers may have dropped from his 2013 season where he rushed for 1,607 and 9 touchdowns. But, that still wasn't a reason why they should trade him. They now have to rely on Chris Polk and Darren Sproles which is a significant downgrade from McCoy.

Now the Eagles will have to look for a running back in free agency or the NFL draft that can halfway makeup for the loss of LeSean McCoy. Some of the reasons the Eagles are making all these moves are they probably are looking to resign Maclin to a big deal or looking to sign a big name free agent during the free agency period which starts March 10th. Some people are probably still trying to figure out who is Kirk Alonso well he is a linebacker from the University of Oregon that is going into his third year in the NFL. In 2013 he won the Defensive Rookie of the Year recording 159 tackles. Alonso 159 tackles during the 2013 season was the third most in tackles that season. Those numbers sound good but that was before the torn ACL injury the question is how will that knee hold up during off season training and when the season actually starts only time will tell.
